How To Measure Your Ring Size At Home

How to measure your ring size

If you're lucky enough to have a jewellery store in your locality then popping in to get your ring sized is probably the easiest thing you can do!

If not then no worries, you can measure your ring size at home using any of the following methods!

Using A String:

  1. Take a length of paper/ floss/string and wrap it around the base of your finger.
  2. Mark where the paper/floss/string first overlaps with a pen.
  3. Stretch the length of the paper/floss/string out along a ruler or measuring tape, and write down the length in millimeters.
  4. Find the length in the highlighted column below and read across the chart to find your size.

String and floss can stretch, so don't pull them too tight. If you do, your measured ring size may be smaller than your finger and any rings you purchase may be too small!

Using A Ring Sizer App:

  1. Find a ring that fits you well.
  2. Find a ring sizing app on the Play/Google Store and place your ring on the screen.
  3. Adjust the circle on the screen until you can see the inside circumference of your ring.

Using a Ring Sizer:

The most accurate way to measure ring size is by using a ring-measurement tool. We actually deduct the price of our ring sizer from the cost of any ring if you place an order within 10 days of purchasing the ring sizer - this can be found here.

The ring sizer can simply be looped around your finger and tightened or loosened to the correct size. Then all you need to do is read the sizing shown on the belt.

Ring Sizing Tips

Here are a few pointers to keep in mind when measuring your ring size:

- Remember that your ring should fit snug: This means that there should be some resistance when trying to take the ring off - it shouldn't slide off easily.

- Ensure accuracy with multiple tries: We recommend measuring your finger three to four different times as the size fluctuates depending on temperature. Your fingers tend to shrink in the cold and expand in the heat so it's very important to keep this in mind.

- Measure the finger you want to wear the ring on: Your ring finger may be smaller or larger on one hand than the other, so make sure you measure the finger you intend to wear the ring on most often for a comfortable fit.

A frequently Asked Question:

- How do you discreetly find someone's ring size?

There are a few different ways you can find someone's ring size if you're trying to surprise them:

    • Take a look at their other jewelry: If you can find another ring in their jewelry collection that fits them, you can measure it with the options we’ve discussed above.
    • Ask their friends and family: Other people who know this person might already know their ring size, so it doesn't hurt to ask.
    • Go for a larger size: If you're not sure the person's exact size, you can purchase a larger-than-average one and get it resized later. It's not easy to size up a small ring, so larger is always better if you go this route.
    • Gift them a gift-card from our website: that way they can order a ring sizer AND choose a ring they like. This is the least risky option!
